Climb Every Mountain

If the school didn’t already have a motto (‘Facta Non Verba’), Climb Every Mountain would certainly be an ideal choice. The song is very much an inspirational piece, to encourage the listener to take every step towards attaining their dreams, however difficult or up-hill that might be.

The children had certainly ‘climbed every mountain’ when they took to the stage in front of a full-house at the Grove Theatre to perform ‘The Sound of Music’. The show, which involved all pupils aged between 4 and 11 took months of preparation and rehearsal before the big night. Co-Producers Mr Chidell and Miss Pawaar held auditions for the main acting parts back in the Autumn Term. The lead role of Maria was played by Head Girl Zara Bhatti and the youngest acting role was performed by 4-year-old Arya Azam, who played Gretl.

The musical accompaniment was provided throughout by the school’s musical ensemble of pianists, percussionists and violinists. Nine out of ten parents requested tickets for themselves and their guests. “This year’s production was a lot more ambitious than last year’s, and the children were absolutely amazing in every way” was Miss Pawaar’s reaction. The children themselves loved taking part and the response from parents was equally enthusiastic. We are all now looking forward to choosing the next production for our 2020 performance at the Grove.
